The Language of Art
Sixth and Seventh grades are reviewing the Elements and Principles of Design.
The Elements are the ingredients that make up art. They are the marks that you make on your art and the way you create the art.
Principles of Art are the way the ingredients interact with each other.
Students are reviewing these words in order to talk about their art. It is much easier to talk about how you balanced an image, rather than searching for a word that means it is "kind of like the same on both sides".
By using the words that artists use all over the world, students will be able to communicate with others about their own art, and art they see.
Our goal is to have all students talk about their art as easily as they talk about their favorite music or TV shows.
